Written by South Australian author, Lorraine McLoughlin, this biography celebrates the art of an Adelaide born artist and sets Robertson in an historical and social context in South Australia, highlighting what was happening in the art world and to women at the time. Her story is supported by 30 photographs by her internationally renowned photographer father, Eric Robertson.

But it is the fine the art of Robertson which speaks for itself and there are 60 paintings reproduced in full colour across a range of genres including portraits and self portraits, still lifes, life studies, social commentary, religious art and concerns for indigenous Australians.

A foreword by Tracey Lock-Weir, Curator of Australian Paintings and Sculpture at the Art Gallery of South Australia, validates the significance of the book which contains a DVD of Robertson interviews and catalogue.

During a forum for the 2009 SALA Festival (South Australian Living Artists), Lorraine McLoughlin discussed with Assoc Prof Cathy Speck from the Art History unit of the University of Adelaide, the significance of Barbara Robertson’s art.

The author is available to talk to senior students and community groups.
